Hitman

I have played pretty much all of the Hitman games in the series and enjoyed them. I was looking forward to this movie until I learned that Agent 47 was going to have a love interest. I mean the guy is a ruthless killer, how is hollywood going to make that make sense without changing the character drastically.

They did a pretty good job with it. One of the lines, I will paraphrase here, was really nice, something like, be quiet or I will put you back in the trunk. And of course there is a dead body in the trunk that he took her out of. So, it was real to the character, a ruthless cold blooded killer.

There were some pretty good visuals that pointed back to the game. I wish they would've done more of that kind of thing. But all in all, for a relatively obscure video game character like Agent 47 to be made into a film, it was good.

It is impossible for me to think of this movie in an unbiased way. I have no idea how someone would view this movie if they had not spent hours with the character during a video game.

Martian Child

I really like John Cusack and his sister. The kid that played the main character did a good job. It was a pretty sad human story of a messed up kid and the way he was dealing with his messed up life.

It made me think of the ways that I deal with my problems or don't deal with them. How confused am I by my life? What stories am I telling over and over again, until I believe them?

Peaceful Warrior

I just tried to watch this dvd. I could not make it through. Hollywood made the book into some romantic movie, with huge emphasis on the romance. It is a book about changing yourself. Not about love. Lame. It is funny because I saw a post on a movie site today and this woman said she wanted to walk out of the movie it was so bad. I thought to myself, "I would never walk out on a movie. I would always sit and watch the whole thing." But now I see what she means. Sometimes movies are just all fucked up to your own taste, so you just have to move on.

Bella

I actually saw this movie with two other people, which is pretty rare for me. I usually go to movies alone. Also, I did not pick this movie. Do not know if I would've ever saw it, if two beautiful women I know had not wanted to go to see it.

But with that said, I enjoyed the movie. It was kind of a morality play movie with an anti-abortion message, but other than that, it was good drama.

A soccer player signs a professional contract, but on the way to a press conference he runs over and kills a litttle girl. This drastically changes his life. He goes to prison, gives up soccer, and becomes a chef in his brother's restaurant.

That's where we find our main character, as a waitress gets fired for being late, because she has morning sickness. She wants to get an abortion, but chef/soccer boy wants her to keep the kid because he somehow wants to make up for the life that he accidentally took. He adopts the little girl and raises her. I enjoyed this movie.

I am Legend

Just finished reading this book. 170 pages, but it is filled up with some short stories to a whopping 280 or so. Good stuff. I know I will see the Will Smith movie soon, so just wanted to put my thoughts down about the book first.

I liked all the drinking that goes on in this book. Lots of great lines in it. I want to compile all the lines about drinking. I liked the whole vampire theory in this, vampirism caused by a bacteria with two modes of transmission spores or the old fashioned bite, vampires fear of crosses explained by psychology, and various other well thought out explanations for vampirism.

I have seen Charleton Heston's version of this movie, and of course it did not end like the book. I bet Will Smith's version will play out differently. The book ends with Robert Neville being caught by the new society of living vampires and condemned to death by public execution. It ends with him standing at a window looking out at a crowd of vampires awaiting Neville's execution. Neville realizes that he is now the legend to them. A mysterious death bringer during the day. "I am legend" are the final words. Liked the book, read most of it on Halloween evening so I was a little scared by the book, boo!

I want to read more Matheson.

Hot Fuzz

Just saw this dvd. Liked it. Pretty funny. Same guy that starred in Shaun of the Dead. Also that guy from the BBC The Office was in it for a short bit. Good stuff. A spoof of police movies. Point Break and Bad Boys 2 seemed to play a prominent roll. I don't remember these actors names. They're British for fuck sake. There is an outtake/gag reel as an extra on this dvd, awesome, love gag reels. There is a fuzz fact option, you can watch the movie with interesting facts popping up during the movie. Deleted scenes, of course. This movie made me want to buy a Japanese Peace Lily. Not many movies make you want to buy a plant.

Talk to Me

I just saw this dvd. Don Cheadle does a great job. Chiwetel Ejiofor is awesome too. Very interesting story. Howard Stern mentioned Petey Green a few times on his show. I was interesting to learn about this Petey Green fellow. I had no idea that he was a convict that went on to be a famous disc jockey. I think it is great that a man can pull himself up by his bootstraps and turn his life around. Part of me does not like the idea of appealing to the lowest common denominator, especially in a community that seems to have lots of trouble, but I guess it is based on a true story. I liked the movie though. Dewey Hughes was an interesting character too. Raised in the projects, yet completely adapting and being successful in the white man's world is very impressive. Especially with his brother in prison, man a story of just his life would be cooler and more interesting I think. Learning all he could from the Tonight Show and Johnny Carson.

No gag reel, get serious. Like they did not fuck up during the filming. Gag reels should be mandatory on all dvds, bastards!
