Very interesting movie. Set in California during the turn of the century Californian oil boom, which I never new about. Adapted from the Upton Sinclair novel called Oil. I actually bought the book and started reading it after the movie.
I especially enjoyed the clash between a pragmatic business man and a man of faith. And the ending was shear brutality.
Daniel Day Lewis's character was really interesting. I would compare this movie to Orson Wells' Citizen Kane, with the main character's son being the "Rosebud" of this movie. Daniel Day Lewis's character was kind of a dispicable fellow, yet likable as well. He seemed to be over competitive and always wanted others to fail while he succeeded. An interesting view of humanity.
